This is a very useful thing to remember when I need to run a remote X application on a local machine.
Especially, when I need to test a web server which is not open to the public.

Before using ssh-tunneling, I had to setup ssh X-forward which is not safe at all and then run the web browser on the ssh-connected machine. :-( This causes a really heavy traffic.

I bought an USB key(1GB, DANE-ELEC) from K-Mart with a very cheap price a few weeks ago. It looked very cute and useful. More importantly, it was very cheap. AFAIR, it was $14.

Anyway, I saved my MP3 files(about 900MB) to it and carried it in my pants pocket anywhere. One day, I put the pants to my laundry box without checking the pockets of the pants carefully and totally forgot about my USB key until today.

I just wanted to listen what I saved to the USB key and I realized that it is missin…

Sometimes my system is in trouble with the high loadaverage of the web server because of the attack of some malicious IPs.

I have tried to look for a command to get the IPs which make this kind of trouble by looking into its pid.

Sometimes, you may mess up with your grub and you can not even boot up your system because of the broken grub.

Here is a simple way to restore or re-setup grub.

	* Boot up your system with the first install CD or DVD to go to the rescue mode (e.g., linux rescue)
	* Let the rescue mode mount your linux partition(your root(/) partition) to /mnt/sysimage.
	* chroot /mnt/sysimage
	* grub-install /dev/hda <= if your grub is not installed/messed up, try to reinstall it
