Cats Portraits

[March, 2008] I house- and cat-sat for Karen & Ian for a week(-ish) and decided to take a portrait of each of the ‘babies’. Here (in alphabetical order to avoid charges of favouritism!) is each, along with the two ‘runners up’ for each.

Lady DeOre

DeOre has gorgeous eyes, so I focused on shots where they play prominently. I chose this shot because I really like the slight angle of her face and good eye contact.

Fingle

Fingle is a very relaxed individual, and, consequently, he's usually lying on his back with his paws in the air or curled up in some strange position sleeping (Several shots of him in a basket on the kitchen table didn't make the cut.). For something different, I chose this one of him sitting half in shade from the shadows from the window-blinds. It's unknown whether Fingle was asleep or just squinting here.

The Little Cat

The Little Cat doesn't like me much, but I don't take it personally: He seems not to like many people, and I don't like most people either. He was fairly uncoöperative, so I had to sneak up on him. I wouldn't say that this captures his personality, but the look on his face is priceless.

Roo Cat

Roo Cat is very handsome, but he's dark enough that it makes it slightly tricky to shoot him. He's back-lit by the sun here I like the dark, contrasty feel combined with the oblique look at the illuminated far side of his face. He looks quite regal here, which suits him.
